Alone With Your Thoughts

I've noticed more and more how people seem to be afraid to be alone with their own thoughts.

They're either always on their cellphone/MP3 player/Video Game Player or they have either the television or the radio blairing, but they're not paying any attention to them.

What's wrong with silence?

My own spouse is no exception. The minute that he comes home, he turns on the television, but, he's not watching it! He just wants background noise while he goes about his chores around the house.

I think that it's sad that more and more people prefer noise to silence.

What does that say about us as a culture?

Silence is Golden...

  1. Sometimes music is nice, but around here we do silence more often than not.

  2. Silence? Silence? Yes, I think I've heard of childless people tell me about this wonderful thing. I wouldn't know.
    Enjoy your Silence.

  3. I very much agree. It is only in silence can we feel Heaven. "Be still and know I am God' rings with truth. Milton wrote Heaven as a place where all that is not music is silence. And Hell is Noise, only vast loud noise. Blech.
